The Ubiquiti ER-8-XG (EdgeRouter Infinity) is an enterprise-grade core routing gateway built for massive throughput, high-density packet forwarding, and absolute infrastructure redundancy. Occupying a standard 1U rackmount chassis, this flagship carrier-class platform is engineered for regional internet service providers (ISPs), core data centres, high-volume corporate backbones, and complex multi-site enterprise topologies.
Powered by a massive 16-core processing engine, the ER-8-XG delivers an exceptional layer 3 forwarding rate of 18 million packets per second (Mpps) for small 64-byte packets and scales seamlessly to an 80 Gbps aggregate line rate capacity.

Eight Autonomous 10 Gbps SFP+ Ports: Features eight independent 10G SFP+ transceiver cages that operate on a dedicated non-blocking matrix. Each port can function as a completely separate Layer 3 routed boundary or bind together into multi-link LACP trunk paths.

Dual Mode SFP Flexibility: The SFP+ ports are arranged into two individual groups of four. Via software configuration, each block can be toggled to accept legacy 1G SFP transceivers or high-speed 10G SFP+ optics based on project infrastructure demands.

Dedicated Copper Out-of-Band Management: Outfitted with an isolated Gigabit RJ45 copper interface (eth0) designed for out-of-band management access, along with a standard RJ45 serial console port for direct command line control.
Carrier-Tier Redundant Power Supply Framework

Dual Hot-Swappable 100W AC/DC Modules: Ships standard with two pre-installed, load-sharing 100W AC/DC power supply units (RPS-AC-100W). The chassis distributes power load across both units simultaneously. If one grid fails, the other instantly assumes the entire power load with zero drop-outs.

Optional DC/DC Customisation: For telecom distribution spaces running isolated battery banks, the factory modules can be hot-swapped for secondary DC/DC modules (RPS-DC-100W, available separately) to accept native 38V to 54V DC power.
