The Epson ColorWorks C8000e series is built for mid-to-high volume, on-demand colour label printing directly on the factory, warehouse, or production floor. Designed to replace outdated thermal transfer monochrome printers or slow, multi-step pre-printing processes, the C8000e allows businesses to print complete, full-colour labels containing variable data in a single pass.
With an industrial-grade build and a permanent printhead, this series minimizes interventions and running costs while meeting strict compliance standards like GHS chemical labelling and EU energy branding.
Choosing Your Model: BK vs. MK
The C8000e is available in two distinct configurations based on the type of black ink pack installed. Because these use formulation-specific internal plumbing, the printer variant must be chosen at the time of purchase and cannot be converted later.
-
ColorWorks C8000e BK (Gloss Black) | MPN: C31CL02102BK
-
Best For: Glossy paper, high-gloss synthetic media, glossy films, and clear labels.
-
The Advantage: The Gloss Black ink formulation prevents bronzing (a dull, metallic sheen) on reflective surfaces, ensuring rich black tones, deep contrast, and vivid colour graphics on retail packaging.
-
-
ColorWorks C8000e MK (Matte Black) | MPN: C31CL02102MK
-
Best For: Plain paper, uncoated matte tags, textured stocks, and matte synthetic media (like polypropylene).
-
The Advantage: The Matte Black ink penetrates deep into porous substrates to deliver higher optical density, deep charcoal-black text, and unmatched smudge and chemical resistance. This is the recommended choice for durable GHS chemical labels and logistics packaging.

Key Core Technical Performance
PrecisionCore Heat-Free Printhead Technology
Unlike traditional thermal inkjet systems that boil ink to force it through the nozzles—gradually degrading the printhead structure over time—Epson utilises an industrial MicroTFP Piezo crystal system. Mechanical pulses deploy the ink without generating heat. The result is a permanent printhead rated to last for the lifetime of the machine (tested up to 500 kilometres of media feeding), entirely removing the periodic replacement costs common with other commercial systems.
Automated Self-Maintenance and Nozzle Verification
To protect against missing lines or illegible barcodes, the C8000e features built-in Nozzle Verification Technology (NVT). The printer constantly checks nozzle health via an internal electronic sensor. If a clogged nozzle is detected, the machine runs a targeted cleaning cycle or deploys adjacent nozzles via dot substitution to maintain output quality without interrupting your print batch or spoiling expensive label stock.
Bulk Ink Pouches for Extended Production Runs
Moving away from small, rigid plastic cartridges, the C8000e uses large-capacity, high-yield 480ml ink pouches per colour (1.9-litre total capacity across Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black). These flexible packs dramatically reduce packaging waste, take up less storage space, and lower your overall cost per millilitre of ink, allowing long batch runs to finish without manual intervention.
