Q: What do the different blinking lights on the S720 mean?

How do I connect the SocketScan S720 to my iPad for the first time?

Connecting the S720 to your iPad or tablet is incredibly straightforward. It uses standard, fast Bluetooth.

Turn on the scanner by pressing and holding the power button until it beeps.
Open the Socket Mobile Companion App on your iPad (you can download this free from the Apple App Store).
Follow the quick on-screen instructions, or simply scan the configuration barcode inside the app to pair the device instantly.

Once paired, the scanner will automatically reconnect to your iPad every time you turn it on at the start of a shift.

Is the SocketScan S720 tough enough to be used in a busy warehouse or stockroom?

Yes, it is built to survive everyday commercial drops and bumps. It is made from tough, lightweight materials and is officially drop-tested to withstand repeated falls from up to 1.2 metres (4 feet) onto linoleum or hard floors. Why is my S720 scanner typing numbers slowly into my spreadsheet?

If your scanner is entering numbers one by one into a spreadsheet like Excel instead of pasting the whole barcode instantly, it is likely running in Basic Mode (HID).

To speed it up, you simply need to switch it into Application Mode using the Socket Mobile Companion App. This allows the scanner to send the entire barcode data package to your app or till system instantly in less than a second.
