The Evolis Quantum 2 is a high-capacity industrial "powerhouse" designed for centralised, large-scale card production. It bridges the gap between a desktop printer and an industrial press, capable of delivering up to 1,000 monochrome cards per hour. Whether you are issuing national ID cards, transit passes, or large-scale student IDs, the Quantum 2 provides the autonomy and speed required for continuous, heavy-duty operation.

Evolis Quantum 2: High-Volume Industrial Printing & Encoding

The Quantum 2 is the definitive choice for UK organisations requiring the mass production of ID cards, transit passes, or membership badges. It combines the speed of an industrial machine with the modularity of a desktop printer. Use the Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) below to ensure you have the latest UK/EU hardware configuration:

    • MPN: QTM306GRH-BS: Known as the Quantum 2 Standard. This model includes a built-in Magnetic Stripe Encoder and a Smart Contact Station as standard. It is the go-to specification for UK universities and transport authorities.

What makes the Quantum 2 "Industrial"?

    • Simultaneous Processing: Unlike standard printers, the Quantum 2 features separate printing and encoding modules. This allows it to encode one card whilst printing another, delivering a throughput of over 1,000 monochrome cards per hour.

    • Massive Card Capacity: Equipped with 500-card input and output hoppers, it provides unparalleled autonomy, allowing you to run large batches with zero operator intervention.

    • Multi-Encoding Hub: The printer is "Contactless Ready" and can be customised on-site to combine magnetic, contact, and contactless encoding in a single pass.

    • Secure Production: Features a Centralised Locking System (optional on some variants) to protect your cards and high-capacity ribbons from unauthorised access—critical for high-security environments.

Application Logic: When to choose the Quantum 2?

    • Government & Transport: Ideal for national ID schemes and bus/rail transit passes.

    • Education & Corporate: Best for large-scale student intakes or corporate headquarters with over 5,000 employees.

    • Service Bureaus: The cost-effective alternative to expensive, large-scale industrial card presses.

Featuring a unique modular design with an independent, reversible encoding station, it allows cards to be printed and encoded in a single, seamless pass without the need to flip the card manually.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Unrivalled Autonomy: Equipped with interchangeable 500-card input and output hoppers, allowing for massive print runs (up to 30,000 cards per year) with minimal operator intervention.

  • Independent Encoding Module: Includes a patented reversible unit that encodes magnetic stripes, contact smart cards, and contactless cards (RFID) independently of the printing process.

  • Industrial Durability: Built with a rugged aluminium body and a sealed cover to protect internal components from dust and debris, ensuring long-term reliability in demanding environments.

  • Record-Breaking Speed: Achieve speeds of over 1,000 cards per hour in monochrome or up to 115 full-colour, dual-sided cards per hour (YMCKO-K).

  • Versatile Card Handling: Supports a wide range of card thicknesses (0.76mm to 1mm) and materials including PVC, Composite PVC, PET, and ABS.

  • Enhanced Security: An optional central locking system is available to secure access to blank cards, ribbons, and the encoding station—essential for high-security issuance.
