The Epson SJIC48P series is a high-capacity, industrial ink delivery system designed specifically for the ColorWorks C8000e colour label printer. Containing 480ml of premium aqueous pigment ink per unit, these flexible pouches replace small, rigid plastic cartridges to keep high-volume production lines operating for longer intervals between replacements.
Loaded with Epson UltraChrome DL pigment chemistry, this range is engineered to produce crisp barcodes, dense text, and accurate colour matching that resists harsh physical handling and moisture.
Individual Part Numbers and Ordering Information
The series is sold as individual colour units. While the Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow pouches are universal across the printer family, the choice of Black ink depends entirely on your specific printer configuration.

Designed for the BK printer variant. Formulated to dry perfectly flat on glossy papers, high-gloss synthetic films, and transparent stocks without causing "bronzing" or a dull finish on reflective surfaces.
-
-
Matte Black (MK): 480ml | MPN: C13T55P540 | Product Code: SJIC48P-MK
-
Designed for the MK printer variant. Delivers exceptional optical density and deep charcoal tones on plain paper, uncoated card labels, and matte synthetic substrates. This formula is essential for printing compliant GHS chemical safety tags.

Technical Advantages of UltraChrome DL Pigment Ink
High-Fidelity Pigment Stability
Unlike standard dye-based retail inks that dissolve when wet and bleed into the surrounding fibers, UltraChrome DL utilises solid pigment particles suspended in a carrier fluid. When deposited onto the page, the fluid evaporates, leaving a highly resilient layer fixed tightly to the surface. This produces high-contrast, smudge-free text and scannable 1D/2D barcodes even under continuous industrial handling.
Industrial Smudge and Chemical Resistance
Once dry, labels produced with authentic SJIC48P ink offer immediate resistance to moisture, rubbing, and light exposure. When paired with certified matte synthetic face materials, this pigment ink meets full BS5609 marine durability standards, ensuring the print remains legible through long-term exposure to water, alcohols, oils, and industrial chemical solvents.
Cleanroom Micro-Filtration
Original Epson pouches are filtered and degassed under cleanroom conditions to completely eliminate particulate agglomeration and microscopic air bubbles. This extreme level of purity is vital for protecting permanent Piezo printheads, ensuring correct droplet placement, and preventing nozzle dropouts during extensive print batches.

Operational FAQ
Can I switch between Gloss Black and Matte Black pouches in my printer?
No. The host printer is permanently primed during its initial commissioning for either the BK or MK formulation. Attempting to load an incorrect black pouch configuration will trigger an error on the hardware control panel and can disrupt print calibration.
Can I replace an ink pouch while a print job is running?
Yes. The front-loading access bay of the compatible hardware allows you to swap out depleted 480ml pouches mid-run without needing to pause production, abort your queue, or ruin labels mid-stream.
Is any preparation required before installing a new pouch?
To ensure the suspended pigment particles are evenly distributed through the carrier fluid, keep the new pouch sealed in its foil wrapper and shake it gently from side to side horizontally for approximately 10 seconds before slotting it into the ink bay.
